Sailing Southern California: Santa Barbara Island 2
We had an unusual mission on this trip. This wasn’t just a kickback and relax session for our crew or our passengers. We were delivering (fresh daily) the artist David Gallup, his brother, his paint box, easel, canvas, cameras and I’m not sure what-all.
We also delivered Betsy Crowfoot, a writer and photographer (that’s her picture of Dave), who is chronicling Dave’s two-year (so far) efforts to capture the essence of the Channel Islands National Park.
That’s a big endeavor – as you sailors know, that’s a bunch of islands spread out across a fair size patch of the Pacific with spotty transportation to and from.
Dave will have a show at one of Southern California’s major fine arts museums later this year. You can see what he’s up to at http://www.dgallup.comÂ
