Blue Grotto
Blue Grotto, Scorpion Anchorage.
The real Blue Grotto, or at least the most famous one, is on Capri near Naples Italy. This picture is from the inside of Bird S**t rock at Scorpion Anchorage on Santa Cruz.
It’s a high-ceiling place with easy access, but beware if a swell is running from the west. It can get hazardous, particularly if you try to go through the rock toward the east.

Tom – my son, Dennis – the Bosun and I, are headed to the far reaches of our islands tomorrow aboard Sancerre. Wind permitting, we’ll get to San Miguel and perhaps beyond. Yes, this IS my vacation and, though I’ve sailed a great deal this year, I’ve been looking forward to this expedition since we got back from the last one.
Back to work next Monday.
