Cardinal Marks is not a commie priest

aground

An alert reader, as Dave Berry used to call folks who sent him stories of truly incredible activities, sent the picture, which appeared in the London Daily Mail on 8 July.

The doo-hickeys known as “top marks” on tower to the right of the yacht indicate that safe water is to the south of the tower. It’s hard to tell if he is south of the mark, but we doubt it. In any event, he lost the race.

Cardinal marks are uncommon in the U.S., but are used widely in other waters.

South of the mark? He’s so far south of the mark he went all the way round.

All those fenders hanging off the side are doing a lot of good, eh? Or maybe their function is to keep her from tipping over to starboard…

    Groan….

I just now noticed the title of this thread. Capt. Dan, you REALLY should be ashamed of yourself.

Next I suppose you’ll be telling us that if we’re not watchin’ the Cardinal Marks, our boat could be Stalin.
