As we sailed by the Coast Guard pier in Channel Islands Harbor, we noted that there were only two RIB (rigid inflatable boats) a the docks. Where were the 41 footer and the cutter Blacktip?
Busy, very busy. According to the Coast Guard blog, “Blacktip conducted a medevac of an 82 year-old man who was suffering from an unknown medical condition off Santa Cruz Island on Wednesday.” They got him to shore and was last reported in stable condition at a local hospital.
Meanwhile, the 41-foot utility boat was engaged in a “medevac of a 28 year-old man who was exhibiting seizure-like symptoms offshore Anacapa Island, Wednesday August 26, 2009.”
He, too, was delivered to EMS ashore and was in stable condition.
