Our eagle pups have fledged (flown), but still hang out with mom and dad on Santa Cruz

    Capt. Dan, I have admired your zeal for life and what you have brought to us land lubbers through your sight and this site. I do have a question for you, myself dabbling as an a suedo ornithologist and falconer in times past, an eagle “pup”? Where did that terminology come from? An eyass or a fledgling will work but I have yet to see fur or bipedal fins on birds yet (seal pup, fox pup; eagle pup (?)……however I may have missed something in my science class in high school

    Eagle Pup – chalk that up to poetic (and anthropomorphic) license.
