Funerals at Sea: From the Shore

We can take up to six people with us on the cruise. If you have more than that or you think some people would rather stay ashore, we can hold the ceremony below a promontory north of Ventura.

We can sail to within a mile of the beach, sometimes less if the wind, tide and surf allow. We’ll provide a two-way radio so that you can hear the ceremony and will also provide binoculars.

We have two choices for viewing from shore: the Ventura Pier or from an overpass on the frontage road near Emma Wood State Park. The overpass carries very little traffic and has a very broad shoulder. Parking is abundant and the burial site can be viewed clearly from there.

The picture above shows us about a half mile from shore. Your family will be able to view the scattering quite clearly at this distance.

The picture at the right shows the overpass looking from the stern of our boat.
