Capt. Dan's Nav Kit
Protractor Triangle
What the hell do I need this for?
Let me ask YOU a question:
Is there ever a compass rose in the vicinity of your plot?
I usually find them off the edge of the table.
With this cool Triangle and the even cooler roll plotter below, you can use any line of Longitude to get a bearing or a heading.

Roller Plotter
In the Navy, I learned to plot bearings, courses and so forth with parallel plotters.
And I later learned (much later), when I was working on my Master's Ticket, that parallel plotters don't track very well.
And then there's the issue of the size of the table - again - and roller plotters just work in the confined space better than my old parallel rules.
Yes, of course, I use my GPS and chart plotter. And, no, I'm not particularly worried about losing them due to electrical failure or internal failure of the gear.
But I still rely on my paper charts (updated with the Notices to Mariners) to do my planning.
It gives me a nice warm feeling when my manual calculations are very close to what the GPS tells me.
When they're not close, it's usually a matter of fumble fingered Lat/Long entry.

Dividers
You can buy a lot of dividers that are a lot cheaper, but these are the only ones I will pick up.
They're easy to use one-handed, but hold the position you set.
If you don't have the wheel adjustment, you just can't be sure the dividers will hold their position. If I were tempted to cheap out, which I frequently am, I would not do it on the dividers.
